A Historic Fish Camp Community

Our POA was established in 1971 in Onalaska Texas, a place rich in East Texas History. The name for the city comes from the poem, "The Pleasures of Hope", by the Scottish poet Thomas Campbell. Ponderosa and Shady Ridge are privileged to have access to Kickapoo Creek, a freshwater stream that flows into Lake Livingston. The creek was presumably named for the Kickapoo Indians who camped in that region. Our cover photo is looking out from our neighborhood, over Kickapoo Creek to the "Little Bridge" as locals so fondly refer to when speaking of the area just east of downtown Onalaska.
